Huge investments by the Busan Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival have spawned new cinemas and movie theaters, earning the two festivals a reputation as the largest film event in Asia. This year, 10 new cinemas are opening in Busan as part of the Busan Cinema Complex, a massive theater complex that includes an 8,180-seat cinema complex with 2,520 seats and a 10-screen cineplex with 720 seats.
A survey by the Korean Film Promotion Association and T&B Consulting shows that an overwhelming 92.6 percent of people in Busan plan to make the trip to the festival this year, the highest rate of interest in any global festival, far surpassing that of the 2012 Busan Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival.
