How to Use Slic Toolkit to Activate Windows 7 on OEM Computers

If you have a computer that came with Windows 7 pre-installed by the manufacturer, you may have noticed that the product key on the sticker is different from the one that is displayed by a key finder tool. This is because your computer uses a generic OEM key that is embedded in the BIOS and matched with a security certificate to activate Windows without requiring online or phone activation. This method is called System Locked Pre-installation (SLP) and it is designed to prevent piracy and make activation easier for users.

However, if you want to reinstall Windows 7 on your OEM computer, you may run into some problems. The generic OEM key may not work with a standard Windows 7 installation media, and you may have trouble reading or entering the product key from the sticker. Fortunately, there is a way to backup and restore your OEM license using a tool called Slic Toolkit.

What is Slic Toolkit

Slic Toolkit is a freeware program that can extract and backup the serial number, certificate, SLIC and other information from your OEM computer. It can also diagnose and analyze the SLIC, display the ACPI tree structure, export the ACPI table, and access and export the linear memory data. It supports x86/x64 operating systems and automatic language switching from Chinese to English.

Slic Toolkit can be downloaded from AfterDawn [^1^]. Note that this tool is only for technological research and validating vulnerabilities in the test environment. It does not involve any copyrighted content, only for research and technological exchanges. Please delete it within 24 hours, or for all the consequences arising from your own!
